My New Meds for Bipolar Disorder

I have been on Lithium for many years to control mania plus other medications. Over time I developed tremors in my hands that others can notice. I work with my psychiatrist and neurologist. My neurologist determined that the shakiness was coming from psyche meds. So he recommended Seroquel (Quetiapine) which does not cause tremors. Besides he added Propranolol that controls tremors.

To my surprise, the shakiness is getting better. The tremor also badly affected my handwriting. Now I see a significant difference with Propranolol.

As far as Seroquel is concerned, initially, I could not convince my psychiatrist. She said it caused weight gain. But finally, I succeeded. So I’m on Seroquel now. For weight gain, I started intermittent fasting. I closely watch my weight.

I don’t want Lithium anymore and want to stop it gradually. I will discuss this with my psychiatrist in my next appointment.
