JAMRUD: Iran’s Human Rights Organization (HALWASH) reported that Iranian border guards opened fire on Afghan refugees trying to enter the country, killing 260 people.
According to Halwash, the report is based on the statements of two Afghan witnesses who saw their compatriots killed.
The organization shared a video showing the bodies of the victims, which it said were killed in the border area of Kalgan Sarawan last Sunday night.
Halawash, citing sources who survived the incident, revealed that the group of refugees consisted of about 300 people. Only 60 of the group survived while the rest were either killed or seriously injured.
The actions of the Iranian border guards have sparked widespread reactions at the domestic and international levels. So far, Taliban officials have not commented on the issue.
