A Formula for Composite Numbers

Here we state a theorem that finds composite numbers. Proof will be given elsewhere.

Theorem:

Let A = \{ a: 1\leq a\leq N\} and B = \{b: 1\leq b\leq N\}

Define x =\frac{a+b+1+\sqrt((a-b)^2+2a+2b+5)}{2} for a in A and b in B.

If x\in \mathbb{N}, then x+1 is a composite number.

N = [0.5*(a+b+1+ math.sqrt((a-b)**2+2*a+2*b+5)) for a in A for b in B] print(“N=”,sorted(N))

In the data below the only integers are X = {3, 5, 7, 8, 9, 11, …}. In this set the missing number plus one is prime. Whereas if x in X, then x+1 is composite.
