The Dying Person

Perhaps there may be no heaven or hell, but the dying person may find himself rising as if awaking from a dream. The approach adopted here may have similarity with Hindu’s philosophy of reincarnation, where the soul leaves one body and takes birth in another body. There is an important difference. Here one may rise with the same body. Let us call the dying person DP. The transition from life to death and then from death to life is smooth. The transition is said to be smooth if DP cannot tell if he really died. Of course, he would be confused on the rise. When DP rises, he finds himself with the same loved ones he left behind. For if on the rise, DP does not find himself with the loved ones he left behind, the transition would not be smooth.  He would not be happy. He would miss his loved ones even if in heaven. It means there are multiple copies of everything that exist in the multiverse. In one universe (let us call this universe U1), when one dies, his loved ones in U1 mourn his death. It could be a big loss for a family. But in the other universe, call it U2, DP is welcomed by the same people and so he cannot tell what happened to him.

Time travel is also possible. One may die in, say, 21st century and rise in 17th century or vice versa. Likewise, space travel is also possible. DP may die in one place and rise elsewhere. The whole process of transition is full of confusion. DP is unable to distinguish the difference between a dream and the next life. Every time he is waking up from a dream, something impossible happens.  He might suddenly become rich in his disbelief and get up in his bed realizing it was a dream. Or he might be fatally shot and would be pretty much sure it couldn’t be a dream, but to his surprise he gets up in his bed and feels thirsty.

Let us call the transition from life to death as first-order phase transition and rising after death as second-order phase transition. Every transition is followed by another one ad infinitum. For some people the transition may be cyclic. Like every time waking up on Tuesday, say. For others, it may be linear. It could be linear for young people who find themselves young after transition and growing.

We stated that hell or heaven may not exist. A sense of this type of place is possible. A person may be in constant pain (in hell) or in a state of happiness (in heaven). We would call such a personality as stuck in a phase. Pain, of course, is not a good thing and that person needs help. A constant state of happiness is also not favorable as it could be a type of mania. Of course, these phases are not permanent. Fortunately, DP makes a transition to the next life.

It is also important to define death. Death is the point of intersection of two lives. In other words, death is a knot connecting lives.  As stated earlier there are infinitely many phase transitions.  In terms of knots, two lives can be connected to each other to form a loop. This would be an example of DP rising each time on Tuesday. Or it would be a linear chain for one who continues to live until old age and dies of old age.

Of course, in real life, there must be a reason to die such as a terminal illness, sudden death, or accident. Let us look at this problem from two frames of references. Let us assume that DP is in one reference frame, call it F1, and let everyone else is in the other frame, call it F2. In F1, DP is aware of dying, but to his surprise, as stated earlier, he rises as if nothing has happened and is confused. Mysteries lie in frame F2, where people have different beliefs about life after death.

Every person enjoys all states of life from young age to old age. For some it is not complete in one setting. It is the case for those who die at a young age. Life of such people is a linear chain. After each death, DP rises in bed at the same age until he becomes old and dies of old age. The life chain of elderly is different. Since they enjoy all states of life, they may loop back and are reborn as babies.

Lastly, as DP makes a transition from one stage to next, his life tends to perfection. In one life, he may be an unsuccessful person and may have many expectations which may never come true.  In the next stage all his dreams may come true.
