Today I want to distinguish between two questions. 1) Does God exist? 2) Do I believe in God? Any answer to the former question is a claim and a claim needs proof. The latter question is an opinion. It is possible that God may exist, but one does not believe in Him. Like disobeying God. When it comes to these two questions, I choose the second one. I never challenge the existence of God. It is possible that God may not exist physically, however, a mathematical entity may exist. Because in mathematics there are real and complex numbers. A meter detects real numbers, complex numbers, on the hand, though useful, cannot be detected physically. Under different hypotheses, one may prove or disprove God. It is difficult to settle this question once and for all. The second question is easy to handle. It is liking or disliking an apple. Some people like apple others don’t. There is no reason to justify your choices. Liking and disliking are not constant. What you like today, you may get fed up of it tomorrow or vice versa. Similarly, I may believe in God in the nights and disbelieves Him in the mornings – atheist in the morning and a strong believer at night. One’s belief may change as the mood changes. It is okay; don’t struggle with it.
In short, the first question – does God exist?—needs deep knowledge of any subject. It depends whether you answer this question philosophically, scientifically or mathematically, you need a deep understanding of these fields. The second question – Do I believe in God? – can be settled psychologically.
Some people are stuck in one religion, but they also have doubts and cannot decide how to get out. They may feel like they don’t have deep knowledge of the religion and are advised by peers to study it. OK. But to get out of any religion you don’t need to challenge it just change your question. Go from existence to believing. We stop our discussion here.
