Mood-Dependent Belief

There are believers, atheists or agnostics out there. Every individual is firmly stick to what she/he believes. Faith in one religion is thought so sacred that if the point of the opposite makes more sense, it is not possible for one to make a transition. Some people, the converted people, make such a transition and then stick to the new belief system.

Here I would talk about another kind of belief, I call it mood-dependent belief or bipolar belief. Change of your belief as your mood changes. When belief becomes bipolar, God starts hide and seek. In one time you would strongly feel Him, in other times He would disappear from your picture. Don’t fight with your beliefs if it is mood dependent. Let it go. It is a kind of meditation. Surrender to what you believe now. It will give you pleasure. Don’t be ashamed of yourself that your like-minded people will laugh at you. In one time read Bible and go to Church, in other time read Quran and go to Masjid, and in other time read Richard Dawkins, for instance, and deny God. Enjoy all states of God.

If your belief is bipolar, you cannot tell what you actually believe. If you want to know what you believe on average, observe which mood spans longer, the belief in that mood is your average belief.

Bipolar belief also make another think simple. Some people claim that they have an experience, which may not be scientifically explainable. Every person has this kind of experience once in life time. Some people easily justify it by calling it hallucination. For others, it is very difficult to deny it because what they observed is so vivid. In my post Workplace, the main character shares a life experience when his TV remote disappears. He leaves the remote on the sofa. Later the remote disappears. He searches it here and there but not found. He blames himself that he might have placed it some where else. He is curious to find it. He searches it everywhere in the house, even those places which are less likely. But the prime suspect is this sofa. He opens the pull-out couch and see if it is stuck inside. He does the observation as if he is a detective, but the remote is not found. On pulling out the sofa for the third time, the remote falls about half a foot above the floor, falling slowly defying gravity.

It happens, you place your car keys on a table before you, but later it disappears. Afterward it is found on the same table. You blame yourself, oh, I didn’t pay attention. Please, here share if you had any experience like this. And, especially, if it happens to you next time, search it as if you are a detective. If there is some one else with you, ask them to search it with you. You may observe that the lost object appears where you search the most.
